This was
so named to imprint the happy memories of General Sir James Outram
with an indelible ink in the minds of the people. Outram Ghat serves
as the hanging vestibule of Calcutta. On the bank of the river
Ganga, this place is now an unique spot for people to chill out in the sweltering summer afternoons and evenings.
Outram Ghat is situated in the south of Babughat. The ships from
Rangoon used to harbour in this port as well as take off from
here. Outram Ghat performs similar functions even to this day.
