This is an artificial lake. It is situated at the southern end of Calcutta. It was earlier named as Dhakuria Lake. Later it
was rechristened as Rabindra Sarobar. The ambience is placid,
soothening and peaceful. The youth throng here in the afternoons and evenings to chill out. The veterans loiter around breathing in the
fresh air. There is a tiny island at the south of the lake. It is linked with the mainland via a wooden bridge.
Shoal of fishes swim in the pellucid water. Fishing is strictly prohibited here. Within a short distance, the
Rowing Club, Swimming Club, Japanese Buddhist Temple, Rabindra
Sarobar Stadium, Children's park etc. have sprung up. This is an ideal location for picnics. A five minutes walk from here will
lead one to the 'Ramakrishna Mission' at Golpark.
