Situated at Old Post Office Street near Eden Gardens, it is the
highest seat of judiciary in West Bengal with a tower which is 54 metres
high. It is one of the oldest buildings in India (constructed in 1872
by Walter Granville, the then architect of the Government of India).
It was built in the Gothic style of architecture. A later
extension retained the same architectural symmetry. Chief justice
court, session court, bar library, attorney library etc. are
situated inside the
High Court.
