Located at 361/B, Rabindra Sarani, the Academy has a gallery which
preserves ancient Indian coins. Academy of Indian Coins and History, a voluntary organisation dealing in ancient Indian coins and history, was established in 1997. The organisation aims at discussing the ancient Indian culture and history by holding exhibitions on coins in different schools, colleges and cultural organisations of West Bengal.
It goes without saying that ancient coins are intertwined with history. Still now, if we go through the history of a nearly extinct race, empire or culture or even if we take into consideration the direct evidences available, based on which history has been written, we will find that they all point to the fact that unique among them, are the coins prevalent among the emperors and rulers of ancient India. So we cannot dream of history with ancient Indian Coins. Wherever the organisation has held exhibitions, it has gained a loud applanse.
It is opened on weekdays from 11 am to 1 pm.
