Lexpo Was first held in 1977. This fair is organized by Indian Leather Technology Association. This is generally held between December to February on the Maidan in Calcutta. The total cover area of the fair is 1.5 lakh sq.ft.

Several leather production houses of the first bracket and the leading leather technology schools from Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh, Orissa, Karnataka, Tamilnadu, West Bengal etc. participate in this stupendous fair.

Pavilions of different dimensions can be seen in this fair. Lexpo mainly aims at giving a boost to the small scale industries for broader marketing. Its emphasis is on the efforts to create an awareness about the ulility of leather.

The ILPA or Indian Leather Products Association significantly takes part in this fair with their export oriented leather goods. The participation of FREYA, a designing studio of National Leather Development Programme also deserves mention in this regard.

Lexpo has completed twenty-six years of glorious existence. Apart from umpteen stalls that are put up in the fair for enhancing the utility of leather, several seminars are also held on the dais inside the premises of the fair. Several workshops are hold and a few journals are also published along with the frantic commercial activities of the fair. A colourful cultural programme is held on the inaugural day of the fair and not on any other day lest the commercial activities get hampered.
