DEAF & DUMB SCHOOL
The first deaf and dumb school in Calcutta was established in the year 1852. Among the founders, the names of Srinath
Singha, Umesh Chandra Dutta, Mohini Mohan Mazumder etc. deserve mention. From 1961 onwards, it has come to be known as
the 'Training College for the teachers of the deaf'.
DALIA CULTIVATION
The cultivation of Dalia flowers in India took place
for the first time in 1862 in Calcutta. The Agro-Horticultural Society of Calcutta
grew this flower for the first time in Calcutta. Dalia originally belongs to South Africa.
